When we first visited the property, the garden lacked character, privacy, and functionality. Although large black aluminium bi-fold doors provided an impressive opening onto the outdoor space, the existing courtyard felt disconnected from the home and failed to make the most of its potential. The client wanted to transform the area into a contemporary outdoor living space where they could entertain guests, enjoy quiet evenings, and create a welcoming first impression when viewed from inside the house. Our design focused on introducing warmth, texture, and architectural balance while ensuring every square metre served a clear purpose. By carefully planning the layout and selecting premium materials, we created a garden that feels significantly larger, brighter, and more inviting than its footprint would suggest.

At the heart of the transformation is a beautifully crafted Millboard Enhanced Grain decking installation in Golden Oak, chosen for its authentic appearance, outstanding durability, and minimal maintenance requirements. Hand-moulded from carefully selected oak timbers, every Millboard plank faithfully reproduces the texture and natural character of real wood while benefiting from advanced resin-mineral composite technology. Unlike traditional timber decking, Millboard will not rot, warp, splinter, or require annual sanding, staining, or oiling, making it an ideal solution for homeowners seeking luxury without the ongoing upkeep. Installed using concealed fixings over a precision-engineered subframe, the decking creates a flawless entertaining terrace directly outside the property, complete with wide integrated steps that provide a natural transition into the landscaped garden while reinforcing the clean architectural lines of the design.

To achieve this, we installed premium anthracite composite fencing with sleek powder-coated aluminium posts, forming a contemporary backdrop that complements the property's modern architecture. Unlike traditional timber fencing, composite boards require virtually no maintenance and are highly resistant to weathering, fading, moisture, and insect damage. To soften the contemporary hard landscaping, we designed and constructed bespoke rendered planters that introduce texture, depth, and year-round planting into the garden. Finished in crisp white render, these architectural planters reflect natural light around the space, helping the courtyard feel brighter and more open while providing elegant definition between different areas. Carefully selected olive trees, fragrant lavender, ornamental grasses, and climbing plants create a Mediterranean-inspired atmosphere that perfectly complements the warm timber-effect decking and contemporary materials.
