This bespoke commercial Millboard decking courtyard showcases how innovative landscape design, premium materials, and precision craftsmanship can transform an underused external space into a sophisticated communal environment. Designed and constructed by Decking Gurus, the project reimagined a neglected courtyard into a vibrant outdoor destination that perfectly balances contemporary design with the historic character of the surrounding architecture. Combining flowing Millboard decking, bespoke curved seating, mature planting, and architectural detailing, the completed courtyard provides an inviting space where people can relax, socialise, work, and enjoy the outdoors. Designed for commercial clients, architects, landscape architects, developers, and property managers, the project demonstrates how carefully considered outdoor spaces can significantly enhance both the usability and value of commercial developments.

The Project
Small enclosed church courtyard in Central London - brick walls, mature central tree, needed low maintenance communal space for congregation, staff, visitors.
Old space was uneven, unusable. We surveyed, designed flowing layout that keeps existing tree and planting.
What We Built
Curved Millboard deck with contrasting border - Golden Oak outside, Antique Oak inside - defines central gathering zone
Bespoke circular tree bench - hardwood slats, black steel legs, wraps 270° around tree - plus matching long curved bench against back wall
Precision curved cuts - no straight lines, all boards cut to radius, picture-frame edge detail
Heavy duty steel subframe - built for constant commercial/church foot traffic, level, no movement
Kept existing planting beds, brick walls, added space for BBQ area
