The original garden consisted of an ageing concrete patio surrounded by overgrown planting and uneven areas. Rather than simply covering the existing surface, we planned the new decking around the available levels, access and finished appearance of the garden.

Galvanised Steel Decking Subframe
For this project, we constructed a galvanised steel subframe beneath the composite decking.
A properly designed substructure is one of the most important parts of a long-lasting decking installation. Galvanised steel provides excellent strength, stability and resistance to movement and is particularly useful where site conditions or the design require a strong, durable supporting structure.
The frame was constructed and levelled on site to provide a solid foundation for the finished decking while maintaining the required clearances and drainage beneath the deck.
Contemporary Grey Composite Decking
The client selected a contemporary grey composite decking finish to complement the house and create a clean, modern appearance.
Composite decking provides the appearance of a finished outdoor deck without many of the maintenance requirements associated with traditional timber. It does not require regular staining, painting or oiling and will not rot or splinter like conventional timber decking.
The grey boards also work particularly well with the surrounding greenery, creating contrast between the modern deck and the softer landscaping around it.
